Understanding the work and thinking of chief executives is vital for any aspiring leader.

The full interview with Andy Harrison, Chief Executive of EasyJet provides these insights. It is 19 minutes (approx) in duration.

Andy Harrison was appointed CEO of EasyJet in December 2005. Andy who was Andy Harrison, CEO, EasyJet previously CEO of the RAC and left the group following a take over by insurance giant Aviva. He joined Lex Service in 1996 as chief executive and oversaw its transformation from a vehicle distribution company into RAC plc, a strongly branded, consumer-facing services company with 6.5 million members.

He is widely regarded as one of the UK's top performing chief executives.

The questions I ask Andy in the full interview (availalbe to clients)  include:

  • Have you had any guiding principles that have helped you in your career.
  • How has your leadership style changed with experience?
  • How did you deal with the crucial first 90-days when you took on a new role?
  • How did you go about earning the respect of a large workforce are EasyJet?
  • How as a leader, do you manage to engage such a large workforce when they're spending a relatively short time touching the organisation?
  • How have you, or have you managed to keep that entrepreneurial spirit as it's grown to be such a major airline?
  • How as the Chief Executive do you spend a typical week?
  • How as a leader, do you go about developing yourself?
  • Are there any particular leaders, in the business world, who you admire?
  • If I'm a manager in an organisation and aspire to a leadership position, are there any two or three golden nuggets that I should take forward with me, to put me on that path to becoming a leader?
